Starting May 20, 2022, all orders (complete or incomplete) will be held at will call for 96 hours (4 business days). Orders left in will call past 96 hours will be cancelled.
The supply chain continues to complicate everyone’s day-to-day business and is creating tension we all have never experienced. From getting service parts to installing complete systems to communicating accurate shipping information, the system we depended on has now changed. Unfortunately, most manufacturers are forecasting continuing disruptions in 2022 and beyond. The inventory Charles D Jones has on order is challenged by component shortages, logistics issues (shipping ports, truck, and rail), lack of labor, software changes and foreign policy. These problems are making business extremely difficult for our market. It is also adding pressure to our warehouses to the point where we can no longer work in our buildings.
In the past, orders we could not fill ‘complete’, because of a shortage of product, would be set aside until we had 100% of your order. We had historical confidence that our vendors would ship product in a short amount of time to complete your requested materials. These “open orders” did not disrupt the function of our business and we were able satisfy most of our contractors. Things quickly changed. The broken supply chain has now pushed all our branches into a situation where we can no longer work in their warehouses. Because of the amount of “open orders” we hold, the aisle of our branch locations are overloaded to the point where we no longer can operate equipment, receive freight lines, and add time to contractors who need to pick up product. We need to change the way we hold orders so we can be efficient.
Moving forward, starting May 20th, 2022, Charles D Jones will hold orders, “open” or complete, for 96 hours (4 days). After this time, these orders will be placed back in stock and the order will be cancelled. New orders will incur all current prices.
This new procedure is not something that we wanted to pursue. However, we can no longer function in this current business climate. When the supply chain becomes more reliable, we will reevaluate this change.
